Stillwater Black came together in 1991 when Chris Thayer met Ahmed and Sam Pierstorff while playing in the pit band for a high school musical production. Issac McCorkell was quickly recruited on drums and the band recorded its first EP, The Last Virtuous Lady of Athens.
In 1995 they signed with Cleaves Entertainment, a now-defunct independent label based out of Southern California's Inland Empire. Stillwater Black recorded their debut LP, Adam. They played frequently with local and national acts including Dishwalla, Save Ferris, Reel Big Fish, and IE punk/ska mainstays, The Skeletones.
In 1997 the members parted ways and the project lay dormant for two decades.

Live show?
Mebbe. Dunno. Really kind of up to you.
We've been kicking around the idea of a short acoustic set to commemorate the 1000 YouTube views garnered by our first song in 20 years: longshot.
But we're still about 60 views shy of our goal.
So really, it's in your hands. Click the link below, give your new favorite song a listen, and we'll take it from there.
longshot
Details of the live show will go out exclusively to all those beautiful people on the Stillwater Blacklist, so if you haven't already handled that, put your email address into the "Get on the Blacklist" widget to the right (be sure you're looking at the web version on your mobile device).
And don't forget to hang out with us on all of our social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and SoundCloud. So much fun!
